Welcome to the Edward J. Arthur Elementary School!

We are proud to introduce you to our school community in the riverfront village of Athens. EJA is a full day kindergarten through fourth grade elementary building. Our goal is to always do what is best for our students to promote a safe and positive learning environment. At EJA, kids come first.

The most important element of our elementary program is, of course, the classroom instruction delivered by your child’s teacher. Our well developed curriculum focuses on language arts, math, social studies and sciences that correlate the New York State learning standards with our own high expectations.

We also have art, music, physical education, and library classes that all of our students participate in. The technology at E.J.A. is second to none. Our computer lab is equipped with the latest equipment and our software includes dozens of well developed educational programs. We also have SMART Board technology that is cutting edge. Our cafeteria/auditorium is equipped with the latest in presentation equipment for both educational and entertainment purposes.

Students, teachers, staff and parents working together, in and out of the classroom, is the key to achieving excellence. It is our belief that for students to be successful, parents and teachers need to work closely together and keep communications open. We work hard to prepare students academically, socially, and emotionally for their future. The connection between home and school is a crucial part of creating the educational values that we promote in our special school community. At EJA, our students and their successes are always our first priority.
